I truly hope you have all enjoyed some downtime over the holidays. I have been able to get away for a few days, put my feet up and do some reflection, whilst appreciating our long awaited summer here in New Zealand. It’s not often that we get the time and space to reflect but it is so important. We are able to look back with gratitude, and when that is hard to do, to ponder on how we could make things better.

I am wondering where you’re at? Are you at a place where you are content with the status quo, or are you yearning for something more in your life? Have your creative bones been inactive but are now creaking and starting to wake up?

I am constantly amazed at how the act of creating can filter into other areas of our life, how it can awaken parts of our being that have been sitting dormant, or it can stir up things that are needing to be revealed to us.

I encourage you to take some time out over the last few days of 2016 and reflect on what has been, and what is to come.

I have a list of questions below that will help you in that process. Grab your journal, a refreshment of choice and settle down into a quiet corner or alternatively if the weather suits, take yourself outdoors, giving yourself time to thoughtfully respond to the questions. I have also prepared a pdf below if you prefer to print them out and take them with you that way and write directly on the sheet.

A Year of Creative Reflection

1. Who or what inspired your creativity the most this year?
2. How could you get more of that in the year to come?
3. When were you at your most creative this year?
4. What was your most important learning of the year?
5. What was your greatest achievement or success in the past 12 months?
6. Did you make time to invest in yourself and your creative path this year?
7. What was the biggest challenge around creativity this past year?
8. What did you do to work around it?
9. How will you you deal with that situation if it arises again next year?
10. Are there some parts of your creative life that you have you been avoiding this year?
11. What did you procrastinate on instead of taking action?
12. What stopped you from flourishing this year?
13. Can you capture the past year in one word?
14. What word will you choose for next year?

I hope you find your reflection time helpful in moving forward in 2017. Whilst many of us enjoy planning and dreaming of a creative future, it can often lead to confusion, procrastination and paralysis, as we don’t know where or how to start.

Would you like to begin your year with clarity instead of confusion?

With either my one-on-one coaching packages or the Artists in Action online group community you will move forward with leaps and bounds. No matter where you are on your creative journey, I will support you according to the goals that I will help you refine.

Here’s what a current participant, Mark, has to say about Artists in Action:
“I cant tell you how excited I am to keep this streak going. I’ve struggled for so long just to get started. Feels like a big weight has been lifted off my back. Thanks for the encouragement and great ideas!”

Give yourself the gift you will never regret: The next Artists in Action 4 week session starts Monday 9th January! You can click through to Artists in Action to register.
