Free expression through process painting from the comfort of your home. Online 1 on 1 personalized guidance delivered via video chat/skype.
The process of creating freely without rules of technique or right or wrong, teaches you to relax and accept the outcome. Even the bits you don’t like. We’ll work with the process of painting, rather than the product. The painting process can reveal fears and self judgments which often mirror your daily life. Creativity is about embracing the unknown. Let your awareness transform you! Give yourself space and permission to take risks. Safe risks within the bounds of your art and build courage that will transfer into the rest of your life.

– Vincent Van Gogh

Or do you simply have a yearning to create but have been stifled by rules of right and wrong around creating art? Was your joy for creating squashed by unkind criticism?
Through the painting process you can learn to overcome fear through the uninhibited freedom of creating like a child again, without any bounds, free to enjoy the process and forget about the pressure of producing a final product.
Jocelyn’s gentle approach, whilst introducing each art activity, has alleviated any angst I may have been feeling with each new task. Expressing creativity through art median has been a journey into unchartered waters for me and I am grateful for the competency Jocelyn demonstrates, in her facilitator role, as she encourages all ‘on board’ to explore new territories at our own pace and allow individual expression .Trish (Participant)
- Relearn what it means to have freedom in self expression, without fear of judgement or criticism.
- No painting experience needed, in fact it will probably be an advantage, as you’ll need to put all those learnt do’s and don’ts aside
- No formal techniques are taught, (this is you learning to release your own natural creativity), but don’t worry, you’ll be gently guided all the way.
What is process painting all about?
- releasing your creative energy through self expression
- accepting that the journey of painting is where the transformation happens
- letting go of perfection
- exploring, experimenting, discovering, without worrying about rules of right and wrong
- freeing yourself from concerns about how your efforts will be seen by others.
- developing a natural way of painting based directly upon feeling
- rediscovering the delight of creating intuitively
- learning acceptance and self love
- giving yourself permission to make ‘mistakes’ in a safe environment
- enjoying the freedom of unrestricted choice and spontaneity
Process painting is a safe and effective platform for expressing feelings, clearing blocks, stress release, creating space, self care, letting go, stepping out, dealing with fear and anxiety + more.
Discover what it’s like to live without limits. Allow spontaneous expression to flow from you and watch your stress levels melt away.
You will leave with a renewed freshness for living a life filled with authenticity, passion, and creativity.
What not to expect:
- Structured technique lessons – you’ll be creating spontaneously, in a way that’s true to you.
- Critique or praise – this only sets you up to ‘perform’. I want you to be free to create without fear of doing it wrong or not good enough. You are painting from within.
What if I don't know how to paint?
No painting experience is needed, in fact it will probably be an advantage, as you’ll need to put all those learnt do’s and don’ts aside. ‘Not knowing’ is a great place to be as it leaves room for openness and exploration. It’s all about creating as you go, as your hand and heart lead you.
What does a painting session look like?
At the start of our session I will walk you through a grounding warm up to get you relaxed and settled into your painting process. I will guide you into starting your adventure of natural self expression, exploration, discovery and more! We will discuss any blocks and use questions as prompts to get the freedom flowing!
I don't have a paint studio. What set up do I need?
Anywhere is fine. Even the kitchen table! All you’ll need to do is cover your surface if you don’t want paint drips on it. You can either paint on the flat or at an easel. A quiet area is preferable to make the most of your painting time. But hey, if the weather’s good, why not set up outdoors!
What materials do I need?
Tempera or acrylic paints in red, yellow, blue, black and white + optional purple, sienna, orange, magenta or other specialized colors
Either a canvas or paper, minimum A3 size (the bigger the better)
Brushes – 3 sizes – small, medium, large,
Rags/paper towel, jar for water, plastic plate or similar for palette
Optional mark making objects eg. sponge, comb, scraper, (often found around the house)
Do you offer refunds?
I offer a 50% refund on cancellations up to 24 hours before initial session commences. Alternatively your payment can go towards a transfer to one of my other courses/offerings.
Choose from either a one off session or a cost saving 4 or 8 session package. You will be emailed after purchase to arrange session dates and times.
